Section 2

Information We Collect

In our ministry to serve our church family and community, we may collect:

  • Contact Information: Names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of members and visitors
  • Church Involvement: Ministry participation, volunteer roles, and attendance records
  • Communication Preferences: How you prefer to receive church updates and announcements
  • Prayer Requests: Requests shared with pastoral staff (handled with confidentiality)
  • Giving Records: Donation records for tax purposes and church administration

Note about phone numbers and SMS: Having your phone number on file for any of the purposes above does not enroll you in our SMS text-message program. SMS enrollment requires a separate, explicit opt-in — see Section 3 below.

Section 3

Text Message Communications

How SMS Consent Is Obtained: Having your mobile number in our records — for the church directory, emergency contacts, donation receipts, pastoral care, or any other church purpose — does not by itself constitute consent to receive text messages. SMS consent is separate from and independent of any other agreement or relationship with the church. It is obtained only through one explicit, optional opt-in method:

  • Keyword opt-in: Texting YES, START, or SUBSCRIBE to (435) 900-5648 from the mobile number you wish to enroll. SMS is entirely voluntary; reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel at any time.

SMS Consent Is Not a Condition of Anything Else: You may attend services, become a member, donate, request pastoral care, participate in any ministry, or use any other church service without consenting to receive SMS. SMS consent applies only to the SMS program described in this section and is never a condition of any other agreement, service, account, or transaction with The Work of Jesus Christ.

Types of Messages We Send:

  • Service Announcements: Worship service times, special services, and schedule changes
  • Event Notifications: Church events, fellowship gatherings, and community activities
  • Ministry Updates: Important church announcements and ministry news
  • Emergency Communications: Critical updates affecting our church community

Message Frequency:

We typically send 2-6 messages per month, with additional messages during special events or urgent church matters. We respect your time and will not overwhelm you with unnecessary messages.

Your Control:

  • Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from text communications
  • Reply HELP for assistance or questions
  • Contact the church office directly at (888) 232-1201
  • Speak with any pastoral staff member about communication preferences

Text Message Service:

We use Twilio, a trusted third-party service, to deliver our text messages. Your phone number and message content are securely processed through their system to reach you. Mobile information and SMS opt-in consent data are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing, promotional, or any other purposes. All data-sharing categories described in this Privacy Policy exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; that information is not shared with any third party.

Messaging Rates:

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages, and we are not responsible for carrier charges.

Section 4

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely for ministry and church purposes:

  • Communicate church announcements, events, and important updates
  • Coordinate ministry activities and volunteer opportunities
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual support
  • Maintain membership records and church directory
  • Process donations and provide tax documentation
  • Emergency communication with church family
Section 5

Sharing of Information

We respect the confidentiality of our church family:

  • Internal Use Only: Information is shared only among authorized church staff and leadership for ministry purposes
  • Directory Services: Basic contact information may be included in church directories (with your consent)
  • Service Providers: Limited information shared with trusted services like Twilio for text messaging
  • Legal Requirements: Information disclosed only when required by law
  • No Commercial Sharing: We never sell, rent, or share your information with commercial entities
  • Mobile Information and SMS Consent Protection: Mobile information and SMS opt-in consent data are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing, promotional, or any other purposes. This exclusion applies to all data-sharing categories listed in this Privacy Policy.
Section 6

Confidentiality and Pastoral Care

Information shared in confidence with pastoral staff (including prayer requests, counseling, and personal matters) is treated with the highest level of confidentiality and pastoral privilege, shared only with your explicit consent or as required by law for safety purposes.

Section 7

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

  • Limited access to information based on ministry need
  • Secure storage of physical and digital records
  • Regular training for staff on privacy and confidentiality
  • Encrypted communication systems where possible
Section 8

Retention of Information

We retain information as needed for ongoing ministry and legal requirements. If you are no longer part of our church community, we may retain basic contact information for pastoral purposes and legal compliance (such as donation records for IRS requirements).

Section 9

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information in our records
  • Request corrections to inaccurate information
  • Opt out of specific types of communications
  • Request removal from our contact lists (with exceptions for legal requirements)
  • Speak with pastoral staff about privacy concerns
Section 10

Children's Information

We take special care with information about minors in our programs. Parental consent is required for children's participation in church activities, and we maintain appropriate safeguards for all youth and children's ministries.

Section 11

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our ministry practices or legal requirements. Significant changes will be communicated through church announcements, our website, and direct communication.
